The Aura Crea "TRANSFORM: Interfaces of the Future" Competition, realized in collaboration with SAMET, a globally renowned manufacturer of furniture technical accessories known for its functional and design-oriented solutions, and the Istanbul Academy of Architecture and Urban Research - AURA Istanbul, is set to begin. Supported by SAMET, a leading furniture technical accessories manufacturer in Turkey and the world's largest, the competition will take participants on a design journey where creativity and aesthetics will take center stage.
Young architects and designers participating in the AURA Istanbul certificate program will go beyond the familiar scale and design processes, collaborating in groups to combine their creativity with SAMET's products. Throughout the workshop and competition, participants will focus on the theme of "Transform," taking inspiration from the coming together and movement of SAMET products and objects to create designs that transform spaces and the elements and objects that make up those spaces.
The competition, realized with the extraordinary design and innovation products produced by SAMET for industry professionals, sets the design criterion as "creating the tools and interfaces for transforming one form into another." The 6 groups of 18 young architects and designers participating in pairs from the AURA Istanbul 2022 Spring Certificate Program will embark on the competition process. The competition will kick off on Tuesday, May 24th, with a presentation by SAMET's Deputy Marketing General Manager Pınar Uçkan, followed by a seminar titled "Transform" by Architect Yılmaz Değer.
The distinguished members of the jury for the competition are as follows: Atilla Kuzu (Interior Architect / Zoom TPU), Celal Abdi Güzer (CAA Architecture, Prof. Dr. ODTÜ), Durmuş Dilekçi (Architect / Dilekçi Architecture, İSMD), Deniz Ova (General Manager / SALT), Ömer Emre Yavuz (Assistant Professor Dr., MSGSÜ / Department of Sculpture), Serhat Kiraz (Artist-Painter), Ufuk Kızıltan (CEO / SAMET). The competition will conclude with the Jury Evaluation on Thursday, June 2nd, and the first-place group of the Aura Crea: "TRANSFORM: Interfaces of the Future" competition will be awarded a trip to the Maison Object Fair.
